james_byrds_atlantis_rising_-_beyond_the_pillars_artworkO James Byrd είναι αμερικανός κιθαρίστας του power metal ο οποίος είναι περισσότερο γνωστός από την συμμέτοχη του στους Fifth Angel. Οι Atlantis Rising είναι το προσωπικό του project και το Beyond The Pillars αποτελεί την νέα δισκογραφική δουλειά τους. Το album ηχεί αρκετά μοντέρνο έχοντας έντονο το 80’s feeling και πρόκειται για μια μοντέρνα εκδοχή των deep purple και Rainbow. οι συνθέσεις είναι άρτιες σε ποιότητα και σφύζουν από μελωδία με αρκετά hard rock κομμάτια όπως τα I Don't Believe in Love , On My Mind, Let It Out ενώ το chasing the shadows που ανοίγει τον δίσκο ξεχωρίζει για την ιδιαίτερη power metal αισθητική του. Υπάρχουν και όμορφες μπαλάντες όπως το ακουστικό Angel Of Mercy και το Gotta Find You. Στο Requiem Atlantis το instrumental κομμάτι που κλείνει τον δίσκο o Byrd δείχνει τις εξαιρετικές του ικανότητες τόσο στην ακουστική κιθάρα όσο και στην ηλεκτρική κιθάρα δημιουργώντας όμορφες μελωδίες με εκπληκτικά solo. To Beyond The Pillars είναι ένα πολύ καλό 80’s album με μια πιο μοντέρνα αισθητική εμπνευσμένο από ένα πολύ ταλαντούχο κιθαρίστα και δεν θα αφήσει κανέναν αδιάφορο.
