Η DOMINUS ROCK BAND ΠΑΡΟΥΣΙΑΖΕΙ
“MALICE IN WONDERALND”
PAICE, ASHTON & LORD (DEEP PURPLE FAMILY)
Μετά από σχεδόν τέσσερα χρόνια απραξίας, η DOMINUS ORCHESTRA μετονομάζεται σε DOMINUS ROCK BAND, μία αυθεντική rock’n’roll και όχι μόνο μπάντα και παρουσιάζει το μοναδικό και σπάνιο “MALICE IN WONDERLAND” των PAICE ASHTON LORD. Ένα album έκπληξη από ένα σχήμα έκπληξη με σύντομο όμως καλλιτεχνικό βίο…
“Μετά τη διάλυση των Deep Purple το καλοκαίρι του 1976, οι Jon Lord (Keyboards) και Ian Paice (Drums) αποφάσισαν να δημιουργήσουν ένα ροκ συγκρότημα με R&B, Funk rock, Hard rock, Progressive rock επιρροές. Μετά από διάφορες οντισιόν, προσέλαβαν τους Bernie Marsden (Babe Ruth, Whitesnake) στην κιθάρα και Paul Martinez (session μουσικός στους R. Plant, C. Stevens, G. Harrison, P. Gabriel, P. Collins, Stretch) στο μπάσο, ενώ ο Tony Ashton (από τους Ashton Gardner & Dyke), στενός φίλος του Jon Lord, ανέλαβε τον δύσκολο ρόλο του τραγουδιστή και πιανίστα ταυτόχρονα. Παρεμπιπτόντως, το 1971 ο Tony Ashton συμμετείχε στο album “Gemini Suite” του Jon Lord, ενώ το 1974 ο Lord είχε συμμετάσχει στο σόλο album του Ashton με τίτλο “The First of the Big Bands”.
Μέσα στο 1976 οι Paice Ashton & Lord ξεκίνησαν τις ηχογραφήσεις για το πρώτο τους album το οποίο κυκλοφόρησε τον Μάρτιο του 1977 με τον τίτλο “Malice in Wonderland”, προφανώς επηρεασμένο και παραφρασμένο από το παραμύθι “Alice in Wonderland (η Αλίκη στη χώρα των θαυμάτων, γραμμένο το 1865 από τον Lewis Carroll καθώς και το sequel “Through the Looking-Glass το 1871)”. Το “Malice in Wonderland” έλαβε εξαιρετικές κριτικές.
Η ευρωπαϊκή περιοδεία του συγκροτήματος περιορίστηκε σε πέντε συναυλίες στη Μεγάλη Βρετανία, κατά τις οποίες οι Paice, Ashton & Lord διευρύνθηκαν σε 11μελή μπάντα με γυναικεία δεύτερα φωνητικά και κουαρτέτο χάλκινων πνευστών.
Οι σκέψεις για ένα δεύτερο δίσκο εγκαταλείφθηκαν καθώς η ψυχολογική πίεση που ασκούνταν στον Tony Ashton, οδήγησε τους Lord και Paice να αναζητήσουν άλλον τραγουδιστή στο πρόσωπο του David Coverdale (ex. Deep Purple), αλλά τελικά κατέληξε να δημιουργήσει το δικό του συγκρότημα τους Whitesnake, στους οποίους λίγο αργότερα εντάχθηκαν οι Lord και Paice.
Τελικά οι Paice Ashton Lord διαλύθηκαν τον Ιανουάριο του 1978.”
Η “Dominus Orchestra” δημιουργήθηκε από τον Πάνο Πολίτη το 2014, ένα 25μελές σύνολο από ροκ μπάντα και ορχήστρα εγχόρδων. Μέσα από τρεις έξοχες μουσικές παραστάσεις αφιέρωμα, παρουσίασε και προήγαγε για πρώτη φορά στην Ελλάδα κομμάτια από την solo καριέρα του Jon Lord από το 1974 μέχρι και το 2006, όπως από το “Sarabande”, “Before I Forget”, “Pictured Within”, “Beyond The Notes”.
Αυτή τη φορά η “Dominus Orchestra” ανασυντάσσει τις δυνάμεις της, μετονομάζεται σε “Dominus Rock Band” και μεταμορφώνεται σε μία αμιγώς 5μελή αυθεντική ροκ μπάντα, πλαισιωμένη από έξτρα μουσικούς όπως δεύτερα γυναικεία φωνητικά και τέσσερα χάλκινα πνευστά.
Έτσι, το 11μελές σχήμα θα εμφανιστεί στις 9/12 και 16/12, στον πολυχώρο “Άννα & Μαρία Καλουτά – https://www.opanda.gr/index.php/theatra/item/polyxoros-a-m-kalouta” .
Εισιτήρια θα διατίθενται μέσω προπώλησης από το Viva (https://www.viva.gr/tickets/music/) αξίας 15 ευρώ αλλά και στην είσοδο του θεάτρου 20 ευρώ. Οι πόρτες θα ανοίξουν στις 19:00’. Ώρα έναρξης live 21:00’.

After four years of inactivity, DOMINUS ORCHESTRA is renamed DOMINUS ROCK BAND, an authentic rock’n’roll and not just a band, and presents the unique and rare “MALICE IN WONDERLAND” by I. PAICE, T. ASHTON & J. LORD. A surprise album from a surprising scheme with a short artistic life…
“After the breakup of Deep Purple in the summer of 1976, Jon Lord (Keyboards) and Ian Paice (Drums) decided to create a rock band with R & B, Funk rock, Hard rock, Progressive rock influences. After several auditions, they hired Bernie Marsden (Babe Ruth, Whitesnake) on the guitar and Paul Martinez (session musician at R. Plant, C. Stevens, G. Harrison, P. Gabriel, P. Collins, Stretch) Tony Ashton (from Ashton Gardner & Dyke), a close friend of Jon Lord, took on the difficult role of singer and pianist at the same time. Incidentally, in 1971, Tony Ashton participated in Jon Lord’s “Gemini Suite” album, and in 1974 Lord had taken part in Ashton’s solo album titled “The First of the Big Bands.”
In 1976 Paice Ashton & Lord started recording sessions for their first album, which was finally released in March 1977 under the title “Malice in Wonderland”, apparently influenced and paraphrased by the tale “Alice in Wonderland (Alice in Wonderland , written in 1865 by Lewis Carroll as well as the sequel “Through the Looking Glass in 1871”. “Malice in Wonderland” received excellent reviews.
The European tour of the band was limited to five concerts in Great Britain, where Paice, Ashton & Lord expanded into an 11-member band with female backing vocals and a brass quartet.
Thoughts for a second album were abandoned as the psychological pressure exerted on Tony Ashton led Lord and Paice to look for another singer on David Coverdale’s face (ex. Deep Purple), but eventually ended up creating his own band Whitesnake, to which soon Lord and Paice joined.
Eventually Paice Ashton Lord was dissolved in January 1978. ”
“Dominus Orchestra” was founded by Panos Politis in 2014, a 25-member ensemble of rock band and string orchestra. Through three outstanding music performances, he and his band presented and promoted for the first time in Greece pieces from Jon Lord’s solo career from 1974 until 2006, such as “Sarabande”, “Before I Forget”, “Pictured Within” “Beyond The Notes”.
This time, Dominus Orchestra is rebuilding its forces, renamed Dominus Rock Band and transformed into a purely 5-member authentic rock band, flanked by extra musicians such as female backing vocals and a brass quartet.
Thus, the 11-figure format will appear on 9/12 and 16/12, in the “Anna & Maria Kalouta – https://www.opanda.gr/index.php/theatra/item/polyxoros-a-m-kalouta” multi-site.
